Parental involvement

Parents are the first educators of their young children. The aim of this group is to support parents in their essential role.

We will :-

  • Involve parents in shared record keeping about their own child, both formally and informally, ensuring that parents have access to all written records on their own children. This is achieved through the use of Tapestry click here for information on this system https://tapestry.inf

  • Ensure that parents are given information on a regular basis about their child's progress and have an opportunity to discuss it with staff.

  • Ensure that all parents have opportunities to contribute from their own skills, knowledge and interests to the activities of the group.

  • Ensure that all new parents are aware of and can contribute to the group's systems and policies.

  • Ensure that all parents are fully informed about meetings, workshops and training. Please make sure you check tapestry parent page  for any updates.

  • Consult with families about the times of meetings and hold them in venues which are accessible and appropriate for all.

  • Make known to all parents the systems for registering queries, complaints or suggestions.

  • Welcome contributions from parents, whatever form they may take.

  • Provide opportunities for parents to learn about the pre-school curriculum and about young children's learning, in pre-school and at home.

We love the outdoors and are out playing in it what ever the weather!

It is really important that you ALWAYS bring weather appropriate clothes such as coats, mittens, warm hats, and scarf in the winter and sun hats and sun cream in the summer.

Don't forget to name these items so we can return any lost items!

We advise these items, if possible, are left at preschool so they can be used when needed. .

We love the Outdoors!!!
Parent/Carer meetings

We offer meetings once a term with your child's key person. These informal meetings are for 10 minutes each and give you, and the key person, a chance to share information with each other around your child's development. You can always arrange to see your child's key person at any other time as well!

Just have a chat with them to arrange a convenient time.

Focus weeks
Getting messy!

We are a real hands on setting, so your child may get a little messy or wet from time to time. We suggest you leave a change of clothes on your child's peg just in case of such events. These you should name as with all items you bring into the setting, so many others have the same things!!

Personal hygiene

Through the academic year we have focused weeks such as pet week, job week, not so scary halloween weeks and children in need to name but a few. During these weeks we encourage children and parents to join together to explore the groups activities.

We have our own small toilets and basins . This helps children to manage their own toileting  needs. However even though desirable  they don't have to be out of nappies or pull ups to join the setting.

if your little one is still in nappies?pull ups, make sure you provide enough for them to use during their sessions, along with wipes, nappy sacks and any creams.

We will charge you if we need to use any of ours at £1 per nappy.

We will work closely together with you so your child achieves independent toilet use.

Snack time

Children bring in their own snack from home. They can  join together as a group to eat and socialise with their peers or can eat it when they are ready during the morning.

This is also an amazing opportunity to talk about healthy choices and life styles.

Children bring in fruit, vegetables, bread sticks, rice cakes etc to eat. Please provide these in a named tub so no yummy snacks get lost!

We provide free access to water and milk during the day.
